Program Description: Living at the Intersections, Inc. (LATI) hosted a daylong retreat for Black women caregivers and their Black teen girls. In partnership with Hope & Healing Survivor Resource Center of Summit and Medina Counties, and partially funded by a grant from the Ms. Foundation, this event was free.
The event’s goal was to build healthy intergenerational bonds and dialogue while decreasing the ongoing generational transmission of misogynoir. Sessions will also include the importance of self-care, ways to provide healthy support for Black girls/nonbinary (femme) youth, addressing emotional wellness, and effective communication strategies. Sessions will be led by Black female psychologists and a yoga/healing practitioner. Attendees received a continental breakfast, lunch, and gifts.
